Requirements for Get Covered Illinois Navigators at CDOs
The Get Covered Illinois Navigator program will be especially important to the success of Illinois’ transition to a State-based Marketplace. Navigators will be a valuable resource for consumers to help them easily transition from Healthcare.gov to the Get Covered Illinois website. Therefore, Navigators will have several responsibilities:
- Maintain expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program requirements.
- Educate the public about the new State-based Marketplace in Illinois through events and educational presentations.
- Provide information concerning enrollment into qualified health plans, premium tax credits, and cost-sharing reductions.
- Facilitate selection of and enrollment in qualified health plans.
- Provide this information so that it is unbiased and culturally and linguistically appropriate for the population the exchange is serving.
Only individuals affiliated—either directly or through a subcontract—with the following organizations will take this training. The current HFS Lead Navigator Organizations are:
- Illinois Primary Health Care Association
- Rincon Family Services
- Sinai Community Institute
- Federación de Clubes Michoacanos en Illinois, Casa Michoacan
- Springfield Urban League
